According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, via West Ham Transfers, the Hammers have a complete agreement to sign Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic upon his contract expiry this summer, with Irons fans dropping plenty of mixed responses to this claim.
Maksimovic has started 10 matches for the Serie A side this term, averaging an impressive 92.4% pass accuracy (WhoScored), but a deal apparently couldn’t be reached to extend his stay at the Stadio San Paolo.
As a result, Fichajes are reporting that West Ham are first in line and have already agreed a deal to sign him in the summer. Indeed, if nothing goes wrong, the Spanish outlet claim that he will be David Moyes’ first acquisition for next season.
Flocking to this report, one fan exclaimed that Maksimovic’s reported capture is a ‘quality signing’ for the Hammers – and it’s hard to argue given his 1.93m (6 foot 4) stature and composure out from the back, as evident by his WhoScored numbers.
However, other supporters questioned this news entirely – scroll down below for a flavour of the disparate fan reaction.

“Good player, makes sense to bring in a senior CB when one is leaving and Ogbonna’s injuries may start to become more frequent. That being said, I would hope there’s still room for Alves to be integrated”
