The 20-year-old striker has struggled for regular minutes this season, due to the incredible form of Dutch striker Luuk De Jong ahead of him in the pecking order. The 33-year-old has net seven goals and added two assists in JUST the Champions League so far this year, while adding 10 goals and six assists in league play. For any backup striker in the world, you'd struggle to oust someone in the XI when they are in that sort of scoring form.
WHAT PEPI SAID
"I support a striker who is very important for this team and I learn a lot from him," Pepi said. 'It was a very important match today. All the substitutes made a difference, we really were a team. At halftime we felt that it was not good enough, but in the second half we put a lot more energy into the match. It's very special [the goal].''
"Every day I learn from him [Luuk De Jong], that is important to me and that is what I do. It's a situation I have to be grateful for. Of course I want to play more minutes, but at the same time I have to remain patient. I am far from satisfied. I want to keep growing, keep working and keep learning," Pepi concluded.
